After the droning monsoon, the fine weather comes for the biggest festival Dashain which lies between October and November. It is believed that the festival is celebrated on the auspicious occasion of killing the Mahisasur Demon by Nawa Durga Bhawani (the 9 different incarnations of Lord Shiv's consort "Parvati") on the other hand it is believed that it is celebrated on the occasion of killing the Ravan Demon by Lord Ram. In fact that it is the celebration of the victory over the untruth and the evil spirit. It is celebrated for 15 days with great pleasure. Many male goats and male buffaloes are sacrificed in the temples of goddess Durga to please her in the 8th day of festival. 10th day is the most important that is called Dashain. People take blesses from their superiors and greetings are exchanged. Government offices for a week from 7th day of festival, schools and universities for whole 15 days remain close at the time of festival.
