Gawara Festival
This
is one of the most important festivals of Far western region
of Nepal and is celebrated for about one and half weeks.
The story is about the goddess Parvati who was black in
color, so her husband (lord Shiv) used to call her by "Kali"
(black lady) which she didn't like to listen from her husband.
Then she decided to get divine power to change her blackish
color and did a long long pray. Finally she found her "Gori"
(white lady in color). Then the festival has celebrated
on this unexpected and auspicious occasion. "Deuda";
the super popular group dance of Far western Nepalese people,
is performed in this festival which is really interesting
and so attractive. Many foreign and domestic visitors come
to this region every year to enjoy with the unique culture.
This interesting festival is the great mass of the people
of entire region and visitors may have the experience of
primitive lifestyle of the people and their ancient human
civilization. So let's go there and have unique cultural
experience.
Detailed itinerary
Day 01 : Arrive Kathmandu (1310m).
Day 02 : Fly to Dhangadhi (130m) same
day and stay there.
Day 03-09 : Explore, study and enjoy
the festival very closely joining with the friendly local
people. This festival package might be the unique cultural
experience for the visitors which reflects the lifestyle
and ancient human civilization.
Day 10-13 : Drive to Chitwan (150m)
and enjoy with nature and Tharu culture. Chase the elusive
Bengal tiger riding on the elephant, jeep safari, jungle
walk, watch the elephant breeding center, explore the Tharu
culture, enjoy and dance with them.
Day 14 : Drive back to Kathmandu
Day 15 : Sightseeing and shopping in
Kathmandu.
Day 16 : Fly back home.
