Locating to the northeastern
part of Nepal, Makalu region is the unique place for bio-diversity,
climatic variation along with the elevation, beautiful Himalayas
and river valleys and cultural heritage. Entering the Imja
valley in Khumbu region from Makalu valley is tricky due to
the high passes like East Col(6100m), West Col(6136m) and
Amphu Laptse La(5845m). Very few trekkers but mountaineers
do this but most of the trekkers go up the Makalu base camp
then come back the same way. Arun valley is the richest valley
for the birds where are recorded over 650 species of birds
including the Spiny Babbler, the extinct bird from the world
for 150 years and again found in 1992AD in this valley Makalu.
Barun is the warm shelter of Tiger, leopard, snow leopard,
Himalayan black bear, musk deer, Himalayan barking deer, wild
boar, wild dog, wolf etc and different species of reptiles,
butterflies and other insects.
Tumlingtar(457m) situated in Arun valley is
the deepest valley in the world that varies over 8000m to
the Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu. Many naturalists, bird watchers,
trekkers and mountaineers visit this region every year.
The Kirantee (Rai) people mostly occupy this
region. It is believed that they are the generation of a
couple of god -Paru Hang and Sumnima. Their birth, marriage
and funeral rites are completely different than the other
caste of people in Nepal. According to the Nepalese history
they are migrated there from the bank of Mediterian Sea
in 1400BC. The very popular festival of Kirant people is
SAKELA NANCH is celebrated for 10 days that lies generally
