Description
Located on the northern part of Far Western Nepal, standing
at an elevation of 2350m, Rara region was an ancient kingdom
of KHAS Empires. Surrounding Himalayan beauty, tranquility
of Rara Lake (biggest lake of Nepal), exhibition of rare
flora and fauna in Rara National Park and vibrant color
of nature allure the people. Due to very low rainfall like
upper Mustang, trekking in the summer time can be the unique
experience in the intermountain valleys covered with temperate
forests and alpine pasturelands. Autumn season is also rewarded.
Ripley rediscovered the most famous spiny babbler from this
region, which was not reported for 150 years. The presence
of animals like musk deer, Himalayan black bear, leopard,
goral, Himalayan thar, yellow throated marten, wild boar,
langur (white monkey) and rhesus macaque, and the migrant
waterfowl, great-crested grebe, black-crested grebe, red
crested grebe, snow cock, impeyan pheasant, white crested
pheasant, blood pheasant and chukor allure the heart.
