Day hike can be made to Thame, Kunde or the hill saddle(3790m) just above Sangboche(3760); the view point of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Kangtega(6685m) and other major peaks in this region. The excellent view of the mountains, villages and meandering river valleys allures everyone. The museum by the hill saddle of Namche Bazar is another attraction where we can collect the broad knowledge about the entire Khumbu region.

Day 5: Namche - Tengboche (3867m)

The trail passes through the forest of pine, silver birch and rhododendrons. This is the musk deer country where can be seen the musk deer, Himalayan Monal, cheer pheasants and occasionally the snow leopard very closely. Tengboche is not only famous for the view; it has the great religious history where the monastery situated. The newly rebuilt monastery is designed as previous brunt down monastery. The trail is mainly up and down, the way to Gokyo separates straight from Tasingo village.

Day 6: Tengboche - Dingboche (4350m)

After passing through the rhododendron forest, trail heads up along the glacial valley. Pangboche village looks very nice on the foothill of Ama Dablam, the frequent avalanches draw attention of the tourists. The trail to Makalu Barun National Park, Imja Tse and Chhukung Ri separates from here. There are some trekking peaks like Kongde and Pokalde peaks that are usually done from here. There is cellular phone service available.

Day 7: Rest day in Dingboche for acclimatization,

Day hike can be made to Chhukung village, Chhukung Ri, Imja Tse Base Camp, icy lake at the bottom of Ama Dablam from south side and Pheriche. Hiking up in the day and staying down at night is the excellent exercise for the altitude. It is always wise to walk slowly in the higher elevation.

Day 8: Dingboche - Lobuche (4930m)

The way to Dughla is slightly up then starts about 300m steep but gentle climb. After the steep part, the trail follows the narrow gully slightly upward all the way to Lobuche. There are very few lodges in Lobuche. Due to the lack of space, it’s hard to get rooms there in April and October, so it would be better to have light tents for sleeping.

Day 9: Lobuche-Kalapattar 5545m (Everest view point)- back to Lobuche

Get up early, have enough hot fluid, then start hiking, everyone should have flash light for safe walking along the moraine. We can have breakfast in Gorakshep (5180m), however it would be better to take power bars and water with you to maintain energy for the steep part between Gorakshep and Kalapattar. It is short distance and gentle walk to Kalapattar but it takes long time than expected due to the altitude. For the best view of the Mt. Everest, one has to be there before 9:00am. Including Mt. Everest, Kalapattar provides the excellent views of Nuptse (76896m), Pumori (7145m), Lingtren (6697m), Gokyo, Kangtega, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and small portion of Lhotse (8501m), exotic Himalayan peaks as well as the great glacial valley of Khumbu region. We often see terrible frequent avalanches and active glaciers which draw attention of the people. Terrible and wonderful blizzard at the top of Mt. Everest always looks very beautiful. It can be made the long loop to Gorakshep via Pumori Base Camp (PBC) and Everest Base Camp (EBC) but it is hard to keep the body balance while walking in the rocky inclines. Instead of Kalapatthar, one can go to Everest Base Camp (5200m) but the excellent view of the Mt. Everest cannot be seen from there. However we can have great experience of active Khumbu glacier, ice-bowls, Everest/Lhotse expedition camps and lots of expedition trashes including used oxygen cylinders.

Wonderful snowy peaks, hanging icefalls, active glaciers, rocky inclines, high country flora and fauna, meandering river valleys and Sherpa culture allure the people from the different parts of the world.

Day 10-13: Hike back from Lobuche to Lukla

Hike down to Lukla on the same way. However we have little different route option to join Namche Bazaar via Khujung valley from Sangnasa. On the way back it takes less time to hike down where the oxygen lever is higher. We arrive Lukla with night stops in Tenboche, Namche and Phakding.
