Overview

Pathibhara is the most powerful and famous Hindu goddess housed atop a pyramid hill in eastern Nepal. In fact, Pathibhara is a compound word of Pathi and Bhara. Pathi means Nepali traditional standard measurement pot of food grains and bhara means full, or this means full pot of grains or piles of food grains. Being the shape of the mountain is like a pile of food grains is known as Pathibhara and the Goddess residing atop that hill is widely recognized as Pathibhara Devi.  Thousands of Hindu & Buddhist pilgrims and tourists visit this beautiful holy mountain every year. The holy pyramid provides wonderful view of Kanchenjungha and Kumbhakarna Himalaya massif as well as heart alluring river valleys, village settlements and beautiful forests.

Magical landscape, beautiful tea gardens from lowland terai to hilly region of Ilam, bowlshape Phidim valley, beautiful Kabeli and Tamor River valley, beautiful Rai Limbu tribal villages and their lifestyle in Tamor valley, beautiful rhododendron and oak forests from Thulo Phedi to Pathibhara, wonderful sunrise scene from Antu Danda Ilam, traditional villages with mud wall engraved colorful houses, Mithila culture, Janakpur - the city of old temples and ponds with typical lifestyle and ancient civilization, world's highest located botanical garden- Daman, beautiful Tistung and Palung valleys and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve -the best for bird watching, wild buffalo called ARNA, wetlands  and some wildlife species are the attractions of the trip.

Note: Teahouses available in the eastern Nepal mountain region (first 3 days in the mountain) are super basic. If you prefer better accommodation, we will organize camping trip for the mountain sector.

 

Package Itineary

(average drive 6-7 hour and 3-4 hour hike a day)

 

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu (1310m), hotel

Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, Kathmandu Durbar Square, return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 02: Kathmandu- Suketar (2290m) by plane, Suketar to Kafle Pati (2800m) by vehicle, teahouse

Fly to Suketar, Taplejung, explore beautiful vicinity of Taplejung, meet our vehicle crew, drive to Kafle Pati through beautiful forested hill. Dinner and overnight at super basic teahouse.

 

Day 03: Kafle Pati - Thulophedi (3190m), teahouse

After breakfast, hike to Thulo Phedi along the beautiful ridge that provides great view of mountain range, river valleys and settlements on the both side. Due to lack of water, there is problem of accommodation atop the hill in the temple area. Today we have very short distance for walking uphill. Thulo Phedi is a beautiful place surrounded by rhododendron and oak forest. Have lunch, relax in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 04: Phedi - Pathibhara (3794m) - Phedi - Kafle Pati - drive down to Phunling Bazaar (1765m), guesthouse

Get up early and hike up to pyramid mountain Pathibhara through dense rhododendron forest. It is short distance but takes about 2.5 hours to the top due to the high altitude. We see beautiful idols of Good luck God Ganesh, Lord Shiv, Goddess Pathibhara Devi with numerous holy bells, tridents and prayer flags offered by devotees and we also see some shrines. Priests performs ritual pooja during morning and evening. We see wonderful panorama of Kanchenjungha, Kumbhakarna and Lumba Sunma Himal as well as beautiful Tamor valley. Here, we enjoy snow during winter from late December to mid-March. The rhododendrons bloom around the temple open field during March to May. After performing and observing rituals and the Himalaya panorama, we hike back down to Kafle Pati, have lunch and drive down to Phungling Bazaar. Dinner and overnight.


Day 05: Drive to Ilam Bazar (1235m), guesthouse

After having breakfast, drive to Ilam Bazar through beautiful river valleys, hills, settlements and farmlands. We see wonderful landscape, traditional villages and classic culture of mainly Rai and Limbu tribes and their typical lifestyle along the road side. Depending on time, we have lunch on the way. Arrive Ilam bazar, explore Ilam bazar and lifestyle there in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 06: Ilam to Antu Danda (1677m), guesthouse

After breakfast, drive to Shree Antu. We see beautiful river valleys, wonderful landscape, heart alluring tea gardens, hills, traditional villages and towns and lifestyle of mountain people. We observe Kanyam Tea Estate- the biggest tea garden of Nepal lasting over hundred years. Explore, study and enjoy tea gardens, tea factory and Rai Limbu culture and lifestyle. Antu Danda is famous for magical scenery of sunrise and beautiful tea gardens. Today, we arrive here by lunch time. Have lunch then explore beautiful tea gardens and lifestyle of locals in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Note: Instead of spending overnight in Antu Danda, we can spend a night in Kanyam, there is 3 star category deluxe guesthouse. But sunrise view point Antu Danda is about an hour drive from here.

 

Day 07: Antudanda-view Sunrise - Fikkal (1560m) - Damak, 3* hotel

Get up early and hike up to Antu Danda view point (2328m) for magical scenery of sunrise and landscape. We see beautiful Himalaya panorama from Everest to Kanchenjungha, tea gardens, west Bengal and some part of terai from here. Drive to Damak. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 08: Damak - Barahakshetra – Bardibas, 3* hotel

Have breakfast, drive to Barahakshetra -one of the most important holy sites of Nepal at the bank of Koshi River. We can have lunch in Dharan or Chatara or somewhere else. We visit beautiful temples and ritual activities of devotees then drive to Inaruwa along the Chatara canal. Drive to Lahan, have lunch then drive continue to Bardibas. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 09: Explore Traditional Mithila villages, culture and lifestyle, 3* hotel

After breakfast, drive to traditional villages of Janakpur to observe colorful engraved mud wall houses with clay tiled roof, typical lifestyle and ancient civilization of Mithila people. We also visit Mithila Arts and Culture Center where we see engraved model artistic houses of ancient Mithila arts and paintings then we visit Janaki temple and other monuments in the core area of Janakpur. Drive back to hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 10: Bardibas - Chitwan National Park, 5* hotel

Drive to Chitwan, check in hotel then go for Tharu village tour, visit Tharu culture museum and observe their interesting culture program. We watch video on jungle and wildlife. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 11: Wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park, 5* hotel

After tea/coffee, go for canoeing, have breakfast then depending on the guests preference, we go for elephant or jeep safari to chase elusive Bengal tiger, wild elephants, one horned rhinos, swamp and spotted deer, monkeys and birds, visit elephant and crocodile breeding center, back to hotel. We have lunch during the wildlife tour. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 12: Chitwan – Kathmandu, 5* hotel

After having breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu through settlements, farmlands, forests, river valleys and hills. Arrive Kathmandu, have lunch then visit Swoyambhunath stupa, check in hotel. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 13: Cultural heritage site tour in Kathmandu valley, 5* hotel

The day is dedicated to explore the medieval era artistic cities of Bhaktapur and Patan where we see very interesting and age old temples, stupas, palaces, bells, statues, clay dung plastered traditional colorful houses, traditional water well and fountains, traditional artwork of metal, wood, clay and paper. We will also see there classic culture and typical lifestyle of Newar tribe. We will have typical Nepal lunch in Raniban with host family. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 14: Fly back home or open for next program

Have breakfast, program over, time for next program or transfer to airport, fly back home.

 

 

Detailed Trip Cost

Entire trip cost per person (USD):    $2,699  // 1pax complimentary for above 10 paid guests in group.

 

Trip cost includes:
All accommodation (twin sharing basis) & food; three meals a day -breakfast, lunch and dinner (except bar bill), insured crew (guide, porters..), all essential permits, all domestic transportation as per the itinerary, service charge and government taxes.

Trip cost does not include:
Personal expenses (like laundry, communication, alcohol, cold drinks and bottled water during trekking), gratuity to serving crew, emergency evacuation, international airfare, visa, your travel insurance and any kind of gifts and donation.

Payment system

  • 80% of total trip budget must be paid in advance (the amount should be appeared to our account just two weeks before the trips) for domestic transportation, permits, hotel bookings reconfirmation and essential preparations.
  • Balance can be paid before or during/after the trip.

Refund system
In case of trip cancellation in the last 10 days of group arrival, 50% of the deposited amount will be deducted. If the trip cancels 10 days before the group arrival, we settle the full amount in next trip.
