Overview

Lying just North West of Kathmandu between Budhi Gandaki and Trishul rivers, Ganesh Himal Mine Trek is an interesting place that offers wonderful Himalaya view and river valleys, lead factory and its very long tunnel,  opportunity to explore and study high country rare flora and endangered wildlife, and ancient Tamang culture and lifestyle in traditional Gatlang village. Most of the trekkers including local people and geology students visit the lead factory (produced mixed ore with lead zinc and silver) and explore the beautiful region as well.

 

Package Itineary

(Average hike 4-6 hours a day)

 

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1310m), hotel

Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, depending on time, explore Kathmandu, dinner and overnight.

 

Day02: Drive to Gatlang (2316m), camp

Full day drive through Shivepuri Nagarjun and Lantang National Parks, traditional villages and beautiful farmlands with picturesque view of Himalaya panorama, Trishuli river valley and wonderful landscape, camp.

 

Day 03: Tamang culture programs then drive to Somdang (3270m), camp

Explore traditional village of Tamang people, study and experience Tamang tribal culture and lifestyle then drive to Somdang through beautiful forest. From the way you can enjoy the spectacular mountain views of Langtang Himal ranges, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak and many other mountains.

 

Day 04: Hike upto Jasta Khani (4025m), camp

Hike to Paigutang Kharka through forest then ascend a steep rugged trail up to lead mine called Jasta Khani. Camp by Jasta Khani and explore the mine. We see beautiful landscape and Mailung valley, and may see blue sheep, snow leopard, marmot, pica, rabbit, vulture, raven all around.

 

Day 05: Hike to Ganesh Himal Ridge Camp (4,280m), camp

Hike up to Ganesh Himal Ridge Camp through glacier and enjoy great views of Ganesh Himal and rock hills. Alpine meadows, huge boulders, rocky inclines, hanging cliffs, majestic Himalaya, beautiful Himalayan flowering plants, wonderful landscape, Himalayan thar, blue sheep, vulture, snow leopard are the attraction of the area.

 

Day 06: Explore the beautiful glacial valley and series of mountain range

 

Day 7-8: Hike down to Somdang then drive to Goljung (1960m), camp

Instead of hike back, there is an optional opportunity to climb Poldar peak (5896m) but we hike back down to Somdang (3270m) then drive back to Goljung. Explore Tamang tribal culture again.

 

Day 09: Drive to Kakani (2050m), resort/hotel

Drive back to Kakani through Langtang National Park, headquarters of Rasuwa district, hydropower dams, Trishuli River valley, settlements, forests, strawberry mountain and rainbow trout fisheries. This is a full day scenic drive. Check in hotel. Rainbow trout for dinner! Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu, explore Kathmandu, hotel

Early morning, we see wonderful Himalaya panorama from the hotel. Have breakfast, we visit strawberry mountain where we see beautiful strawberry farming and people working on it. Drive back to Kathmandu, visit Patan and Bhaktapur. Check in hotel. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day11: Explore Kathmandu

Morning visit to Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath and Swoyambhunath, have typical Nepali lunch with host family. Free time for shopping or relax. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

Day12: Fly back home or open…

After breakfast, program over, transfer to airport, fly back home.

Detailed Trip Cost

Entire trip cost per person (USD):    $1,799  // 1pax complimentary in every 11 paid guests in group

 

Trip cost includes:
All accommodation (twin sharing basis) & food; three meals a day -breakfast, lunch and dinner (except bar bill), insured crew (guide, porters, donkeys, dzopa, yaks and necessary kitchen crew for camping trek), all essential permits, all domestic transportation as per the itinerary, service charge and government taxes.

Trip cost does not include:
Personal expenses (like laundry, communication, alcohol, cold drinks and bottled water during trekking), gratuity to serving crew, emergency evacuation, international airfare, visa, your travel insurance and any kind of gifts and donation.

Payment system

  • 80% of total trip budget must be paid in advance (the amount should be appeared to our account just two weeks before the trips) for domestic transportation, permits, hotel bookings reconfirmation and essential preparations.
  • Balance can be paid before or during/after the trip.

Refund system
In case of trip cancellation in the last 10 days of group arrival, 50% of the deposited amount will be deducted. If the trip cancels 10 days before the group arrival, we settle the full amount in next trip.
