This trek gives you the wonderful experience of Indo Aryan Hindu culture in hills and Tibeto Burmese Buddhist culture in high mountain as well as unique landscape and exciting mountain flights from Kathmandu to Surkhet and Simikot to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj, Nunekhara; the iceberg lake in Bajura, majestic Saipal Himal (7031m), one of the highest peak in far west Nepal, wonderful panorama of Api, Saipal, Changla, Gorakh and holy Mount Kailash, beautiful river valleys of Humla Karnali and Kuwadi. You will have unique village tour where you will enjoy the 13th century civilization. Some of such beautiful traditional settlements you go through are Kapri, Pilichaur, Boldhik, Dule and Bichchhya in Bajura and Kermi, Dharapori, Dandafaya and old part of Simikot in Humla. 

 

You will walk up to beautiful glacial valley of Nunekhara; the base camp of Saipal Himal from eastside, Nunekhara iceberg Lake; origin of a tributary of Karnali River where you see icebergs floating in the lake, magical beauty of hanging icefalls, gulley and waterfalls, beautiful meadows in Sain valley where you see herds of yaks, sheep and horses. You will have great experience of nature from Sankha Lagna Pass (4700m); lower ridge of Saipal, the highest point of the trip and the view point of Mt. Kailash, Gorakh, Saipal peak, Changla Himal, Kuwadi Sain valley, Humla Karnali & Yari valley. Chala crest is famous for earth scientists.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1310m), hotel

Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu, fly to Surkhet (680m), hotel 

After breakfast, visit UNESCO heritage sit Pashupatinath complex, transfer to airport then fly to Surkhet. You admire the wonderful Himalaya range from the right side window of the plane. Transfer to hotel. Have lunch. Visit Deuti Bajei Temple, Bulbule lake park and Kakre Bihar in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Drive to Jite Bazaar (750m), 136km, 6-7 hour, lifestyle and landscape, camp

Have breakfast, drive to Jite Bazar through villages, towns, farmlands, slope hills and river valleys. Driving along the meandering Karnali River valley is very exciting. You will have wonderful experience of classic culture and typical lifestyle of mountain locals. Have lunch on the way, arrive the camp. Explore the local town by the confluence of Tila and Karnali River. Our kitchen staff prepare and serve continental and organic food. Dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Drive to Kuwadi (1200m), 110km approx 8-9 hour, camp

After breakfast, drive to Kuwadi along beautiful meandering Karnali River valley, rivulets, cascade waves, hills, farmlands and interesting traditional villages. It is a scenic drive in which you see typical lifestyle of mountain locals, clay dung plastered colorful mud-rock houses, traditional watermills, terraced fields, thundering waterfalls and beautiful river valley. Have lunch on the way. Arrive camp just above the Kuwadi Khola and Karnali River confluence, explore interesting color mud-rock houses in Kuwadi village nearby. Dinner & overnight.

Day 05: Hike/drive to Neta (1630m), lifestyle and landscape, camp After having breakfast, hike to Neta along Kuwadi Khola valley through farmlands, forested hills and rivulets. You see typical lifestyle of locals and wonderful landscape. The road is under construction in the valley. If it is usable, we arrive here by jeeps. Have lunch on the way or in the camp. Explore the classic culture in the Bichchhya village nearby. Dinner and overnight.
Day 06: Hike to Fulai Kharka (2110m), lifestyle and landscape, camp

Have breakfast, hike along the narrow Kuwadi Khola valley through beautiful traditional villages, rivulets and grasslands. Have lunch on the way or late lunch in the camp. Enjoy beautiful nature by the river. Dinner and overnight.

Day 07: Hike to Gomba (2660m), lifestyle and landscape, camp

After breakfast, hike continue along Kuwadi Khola valley through beautiful dense forests, grasslands and hills, arrive the camp in Gompa. Have lunch. Explore the classic culture of mountain people. Dinner and overnight.

Day 08: Hike to Chyachaur (3040m), lifestyle and landscape, camp

Have breakfast, hike to Lampato Goth, follow the Kuwadi Khola valley to the left and hike continue to Chyachaur at the base of the three glacial lakes. You see trans-human system here where temporary huts for sheep, dzopas and yaks with huge Tibetan dogs guarding the camps. Have lunch in the camp. Explore and enjoy beautiful nature and typical lifestyle of mountain people temporarily migrated here except winter. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 09: Hike to Sain (3530m), landscape and lifestyle, camp

After breakfast, hike to Sain along Kuwadi Khola valley through several rivulets, forests, bushes and grasslands. Arrive the camp. Have lunch then explore a wonderful scenery of the glacial valley surrounded by snowy mountains majestic Saipal range. You also see classic culture of mountain people from Bajura temporarily migrated here with their sheep, dzopas, yaks and horses. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 10: Day hike to Nunekhara glacial lake and Saipal Base Camp, rare flora and fauna, camp 

Have breakfast, hike to Nunekhara glacier and Saipal Base Camp, the ultimate destination of the trek where you see large blue glacial lake floating icebergs, falling huge ice bars into the lake, the big river originating from the lake, beautiful river channels, hanging glacier, majestic Saipal peak, large grasslands grazing horses, yaks and sheep, shepherds temporary huts with mountain dogs, griffin vulture, Himal monal, snow partridge, raven,  marmot, blue sheep and probably musk deer, wolf and snow leopard. It is really a beautiful isolated hidden valley surrounded by magical snowy mountains. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 11: Hike to Sankha Lagna Phedi (4200m), landscape, camp

Hike up along the gentle hill slope and camp just before the Sankha Lagna Pass. It i a short and pleasant walk but takes time in high altitude. Sain to Chala is a regular walk but it could be hard tough walk in the high altitude. It’s better to walk slowly to make the trip safe, pleasant, meaningful and memorable. 

Day 12: Hike to Sankha Lagna (4700m) - Salli Khola (2885m), landscape and lifestyle, camp 

Have breakfast, hike up to Sankha Lagna; the lower ridge of Saipal Himal and the highest point of the trip, from where you see wonderful panorama of Mt. Kailash, Gorakh, Saipal peak, Changla Himal, Kuwadi Sain valley, Humla Karnali, Yari valley and Chala crest. Hike down to Salli Khola along beautiful Chala valley. Today, we join the famous Limi valley and Mt. Kailash trek route in Salli Khola. Have lunch on the way or in the camp. Enjoy and relax by the Salli Khola bank. Dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Hike to Dharapori (2350m), landscape and lifestyle, campAfter having breakfast, hike to Kermi village then follow the Humla Karnali valley down to beautiful traditional village Dharapori through pine forests, farmlands, hanging cliffs and waterfall waves. You see classic culture and typical lifestyle of the mountain people different than before. Bee-hive settlements with thatched mud-roof houses seem interesting. Narrow Humla Karnali rocky gorge by thrilling Chyaduk waterfall is really beautiful. Have lunch in camp. Explore Dharapori village in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Hike to Simikot (2970m), landscape and lifestyle, camp

After breakfast, hike up to Simikot; the headquarter of Humla district. Arrive camp nearby the airport, have lunch then explore typical culture and lifestyle in the afternoon. Today is the last day of the trek, so we release local porters, assistants and donkeys but we keep our kitchen staff came from Kathmandu. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 15: Rest day in Simikot, explore in and around Simikot, camp

We have no rush today. After having breakfast, we visit old village of Simikot and probably nearby traditional village Burause before lunch. Relax in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 16: Fly to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu

Have breakfast then hike down to the airport. Scenic mountain flight to Nepalgunj in the morning then fly to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel. Have lunch, Relax in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 17: Cultural heritage site tour in Kathmandu valley

After breakfast, visit one of the most interesting cultural heritage sites- Lord Pashupatinath area where you see many devotees of Lord Shiv around the main temple, hundreds of lingums representing lord Shiv and goddess Parvati, cremations aong the holy Bagmati river, many temples, colorful Babas; the spiritual teacher and Hindu sage strong devoteed of Lord Shiv, red monkeys and many more interesting things. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square to experience the medieval era interesting artistic monuments, palaces, bells, Kumari; the living Goddess and lifestyle. Visit Swoyambhunath Buddhist stupa complex. Have Nepali lunch served by host family. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Fly back home or open for next program

Program is over, so time for next program or return home. Have breakfast, transfer to airport, fly back home.

Entire trip cost per person (USD):    $3,990 (including restricted area permit)

1pax complimentary in every 11 paid guests group.

Trip cost includes:
All accommodation (twin sharing basis) & food; three meals a day -breakfast, lunch and dinner (except bar bill), insured crew (guide, porters, donkeys, dzopa, yaks and necessary kitchen crew for camping trek), all essential permits, all domestic transportation as per the itinerary, service charge and government taxes.

Trip cost does not include:
Personal expenses (like laundry, communication, alcohol, cold drinks and bottled water during trekking), gratuity to serving crew, emergency evacuation, international airfare, visa, your travel insurance and any kind of gifts and donation.

Payment system

  • 80% of total trip budget must be paid in advance (the amount should be appeared to our account just two weeks before the trips) for domestic airline tickets, permits, hotel bookings reconfirmation and essential preparations.
  • Balance can be paid before or during/after the trip.

Refund system
In case of trip cancellation in the last 10 days of group arrival, 50% of the deposited amount will be deducted. If the trip cancels 10 days before the group arrival, we settle the full amount in next trip.
