Overview

Bajhang is one of the most beautiful places in Far Western Nepal where heart alluring snowy mountains like Saipal Himal (7031m), Sankhamala Himal, Lama Peak, Surma Himal, Raksha Urai and Ramkot Danda along Seti River valley are seen. Upper Bajhang is home to high country wildlife like Himalayan black bear, wolf, hispid hare, blue sheep, barking deer, musk deer, snow leopard etc. and birds like raven, vulture, hawk, Himalayan munal and kalij pheasant etc. The society in lower part is mainly Hindus and the upper part is little a bit influenced by the Tibetan culture.

RAMKOT provides 360 degree spectacular views of Surmalekh, Urailekh, Saipal, Gorakh, Kanti and Kanjirowa Himalayan ranges to the west, north and east and very beautiful meandering Seti River valley with nice settlement of the people, garlands of mountain- horizons to the south. The trail to Ramkot via Raisalli is tough but it can be made it easily from Talkot Dhuli along the river valley. There are many things to see and study like harvesting the crops and ox ploughing in the field, grazing cattle in the pasturelands, melodious voice of singing people, birds and insects, primitive life style of the people, huts and clay dung plastered thatched roof houses. The region is also famous for Salt route to Tibet, trip to Mt. Kailash along Seti River valley.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1310m), transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Fly to Dhangadhi (190m), drive to Budar (1380m), camp

Day 03: Drive to Chainpur (1260m), explore traditional villages and lifestyle, camp

Day 04: Drive to Rupatola, hike to Talkot (1690m), traditional villages and wonderful landscape, camp.

Day 05: Hike to Lokanda (2240m), traditional village and beautiful landscape, camp.

Day 06: Hike to Dhaulaun (2450m), traditional village & beautiful landscape, camp.

Day 07: Dhalaun -Pass (2970m) -Ghat Khola -Kanda (2290m), Saipal view, river valley, village, camp.

Day 08: Kanda - Kotkeli - Balaudi (2370m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.Day 

09: Hike up to Hartal Lagna base camp (3560m), beautiful landscape, camp.
Day 10: Day hike towards Ramkot (4200m) for wonderful Saipal Surma Himal panorama, camp.

Day 11: Hike down to Saingaon Dhuli (2390m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Day 12: Hike back to Kakarkot (2190m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Day 13: Hike back to Lokanda (2240m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Day 14: Hike back to Talkot (1690m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Day 15: Hike to Rupakot, drive to Dadeldhura (1710m), lifestyle and landscape, camp. 

Day 16: Drive to Budhitola (1145m), lifestyle and landscape, camp

Day 17: Explore Tharu tribal culture programs & typical lifestyle, drive to Dhangadhi (190m), hotel
Day 18: Fly to Kathmandu (1340m), sightseeing/relax in the afternoon.

Day 19: Program over, fly back home. 

 

Detailed itinerary 

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1310m), transfer to hotel.

Arrive Kthmandu, transfer to hotel. Explore Kathmandu. Dinner and overnight.
Day 02: Fly to Dhangadhi (190m), drive to Budar (1380m), 85km, approx. 3 hour, camp

After breakfast, fly to Dhangadhi, have lunch in Attaria, drive to Sahukharka forested mountain through the biggest forest Tele Lekh in Far West Nepal, where can have pure fresh rice pudding and lunch. We can also observe wonderful Saipal-Surma-Shankhamala-Kanjirowa Himalaya panorama, beautiful mountain range and Seti River valley from there. Drive to Dadeldhura, camp at hostel ground by the old airport. We can visit historical place Amargadhi and Ugratara temple. Our kitchen staff prepare and serve continental and fresh organic food from today. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Drive to Chainpur (1260m), 185km, approx. 7 hour, lifestyle & landscape, camp

After having breakfast, drive to Chainpur through forested mountains, river valleys, traditional villages and farmlands. It is a scenic drive in which you see typical lifestyle of mountain locals, interesting traditional with clay dung plastered colorful houses, beautiful mountain sequence, Api Saipal Himalaya range in the horizon, meandering Seti River valley and terraced farmlands. Have lunch on the way, arrive the camp, explore nearby villages and town in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Chainpur-Rupatola-Talkot (1690m), lifestyle & landscape, 2 hr drive 2 hr hike, camp.

Have breakfast, drive through Bhopur village where is old palace of 18th century king Jaya Phrithvi Singh. Continue drive to Rupatola through beautiful traditional villages, farmlands and Sunigad valley. release the jeeps, meet the local porters and donkeys, hike down to Seti River valley and ascend to a beautiful hill of Talkot through beautiful dense forest. Arrive the camp, have lunch, visit beautiful traditional Talkot village, ruined palace and Hindu shrine in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 05: Hike to Lokanda (2240m), traditional village and beautiful landscape, camp.

After breakfast, hike to Lokanda village through forests, hills, rivulets, traditional villages and terraced farmlands in the hill slope. You see beautiful Seti River valley and interesting series of mountains. Have lunch on the way and late lunch in the camp. Arrive camp, explore traditional village and typical lifestyle in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 06: Hike to Dhaulaun (2450m), traditional village & beautiful landscape, camp.

Hike to Dhalaun, a most beautiful traditional village through up and down hills, river valley and forests. Have lunch on the way or late lunch in camp. You see interesting typical lifestyle in Dhalaun village, beautiful view of Saipal Himal range, river valley and mountain sequence. Dinner and overnight.

Day 07: Dhalaun - Pass(2970m) - Kanda (2290m), Saipal view, river valley, village, camp.

After having breakfast, hike up to the pass from where you see magical majestic view of Saipal Himal range, Dhalaun and Ghat Khola valley. hike down to Ghat Khola through peaceful dense forest, then arrive Kanda village. This is the boundary village of restricted area that needs special permit to enter the valley ahead. Have lunch, explore classic culture and typical lifestyle. Dinner and overnight.

Day 08: Kanda - Kotkeli - Balaudi (2370m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Hike to Balaudi along narrow Seti River valley. There are two options from Kayagoath valley to go ahead via Niuna, the village other side of the Seti River and via Kotkeli and Saingaon staying right side of the river. The trail via Niuna is shorter but it is steeper after the village. Have lunch on the way. The valley is surrounded by snow capped mountains. Dinner and overnight.

Day 09: Hike up to Hartal Lagna base camp (3560m), beautiful landscape, camp.
Hike up to the base of Hartal Lagna through beautiful forest and Pataka Odar (den). The walking distance is short today takes time to go up. Arrive camp, have lunch and enjoy with beautiful nature in and around the camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Day hike towards Ramkot (4200m) for wonderful Saipal Surma Himal panorama, camp.

The day is dedicated to explore and enjoy the ultimate destination of the trek. After having breakfast, hike up to the pass from where you see magical Himalaya panorama around very closely. You can go ahead towards Ramkot to have a wonderful experience of the serene exotic Himalaya. You may see blue sheep, musk deer, Himalayan griffin vulture, colorful Himalayan monal ‘Danfe’ the national bird of Nepal and mouse hare. You may also see snow leopard in the mysterious rocky inclines. Have pack lunch. After exploring the wonderful landscape and stunning view of the Himalaya return to the camp. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 11: Hike down to Saingaon Dhuli (2390m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Have breakfast, hike back to Dhuli, arrive the camp, have lunch then explore traditional villages and classic Tibetan culture. There is the way to go to Saipal west Base Camp or further up to Urailek towards Tibet and even to holy Mt. Kailash. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 12: Hike back to Kakarkot (2190m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Hike back to Kakarkot on the same way through Seti River valley, Kanda village and Ghat Khola valley. have lunch on the way. We camp by the Ghat Khola (river) that is originated from Saipal glacier. There is the way to Saipal Base camp along the river valley. Dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Hike back to Lokanda (2240m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

After breakfast, hike up to the pass then descend to the Ganaigad valley through Dhalaun village. Today, you have to pass couple ridges and streams with ups and downs. Lunch on the way. Arrive the camp, relax in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.  

Day 14: Hike back to Talkot (1690m), classic culture and beautiful landscape, camp.

Hike back to Talkot on the same way. Hiking along the gentle hill slopes, traditional villages, farmlands and forests, arrive the camp. Have lunch, relax in the camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Hike to Rupakot hike, drive to Dadeldhura(1710m), 145km, 6-7 hour, camp. 

After breakfast, hike to Rupatola which takes about 2 hours to descend to the Seti River valley and ascend to Rupatola. Release the local crew and donkeys and meet the jeeps there. Drive to Dadeldhura on the same road we followed before. Lunch on the way. Arrive the camp, relax in the camp. Dinner and overnight.  

Day 16: Drive to Budhitola (1145m), lifestyle and landscape, 100km, 4 hour, camp

After having breakfast, you can visit Ugratara temple and the historical place Amargadhi there then drive to Budhitola. Depending on the time, you can have lunch in Khandanda or in the late lunch in the camp. Arrive the camp, visit Nepal’s oldest goat farm in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 17: Dangaura Tharu tribal culture programs & typical lifestyle, drive to Dhangadhi(190m), 130km, 3.5 hour, Hotel Devotee 3*

After breakfast, we release our kitchen and camping staff, they will be together with you down to Chaumala then they go on their own way and you will head towards Dangaura Tharu tribal village.  Visit Behedababa Temple premises first. Many pilgrims from all parts of the region, Kathmandu and northern part of India visit this holy land to make their wish successful. Aunsi (dark fortnight) and Purnima (full moon) fairs are celebrated twice a month. Every year, there are very interesting three major festivals- Ganga Dashara Mela during June, Beheda Baba Mela during August and Maghi Mela in mid-January. After visiting this holy shrine, we drive back to Rampur Dangaura Tharu village. The group will be greeted with very interesting culture performance. Explore their typical village where you will see traditional clay dung plastered houses made up of mud and hay. The thermal air conditioned houses have tiny windows for the light whereas the clay tile roofs are well ventilator. The outer walls of the houses are embossed with animals, birds and flowers figures. Clay horse representing their GOD placed in a separate hut just front of the house is really wonderful. Agro and forest based handmade household products handing in the roofs and walls look very interesting.  Shed for cow, sheep, buffalos and pig attached with the houses is another attraction. This is the most traditional and dense Dangaura Tharu village with over 60 households. We will walk through village to observe their typical lifestyle, watch their interesting activities. Boys and girls perform several dances separate and together in their traditional outfits. Tharuni (Tharu women) look so beautiful in their traditional outfits and ornaments. Near the village there are lotus blooming 2 beautiful natural lakes where Dangaura people will show their way of fishing. Interested people can go for fishing and boating there. Drive back to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Fly to Kathmandu (1340m), sightseeing/relax in the afternoon.

After having breakfast, drive to airport, fly to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel. The day is dedicated to explore two of the most interesting UNESCO culture heritage sites- Lord Pashupatinath area where you see many devotees of Lord Shiv around the main temple, hundreds of lingums representing lord Shiv and goddess Parvati, cremations aong the holy Bagmati river, many temples, colorful Babas; the spiritual teacher and Hindu sage strong devotee of Lord Shiv, red monkeys and many more interesting things then visit Bouddhanath stupa complex. Have lunch. Then time for relax and shopping. Farewell snacks. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 19: Program over, fly back home. 

Program is over. The guests open for next program or to return home. After breakfast, transfer to airport, fly back home. 

Detailed Trip Cost

Entire trip cost per person (USD):    $3,790 (including restricted area permit)

1 pax complimentary in every 11 paid guests group. 

Trip cost includes:
All accommodation (twin sharing basis) & food; three meals a day -breakfast, lunch and dinner (except bar bill), insured crew (guide, porters, donkeys, dzopa, yaks and necessary kitchen crew for camping trek), all essential permits, all domestic transportation as per the itinerary, service charge and government taxes.

Trip cost does not include:
Personal expenses (like laundry, communication, alcohol, cold drinks and bottled water during trekking), gratuity to serving crew, emergency evacuation, international airfare, visa, your travel insurance and any kind of gifts and donation.

Payment system

  • 80% of total trip budget must be paid in advance (the amount should be appeared to our account just two weeks before the trips) for domestic airline tickets, permits, hotel bookings reconfirmation and essential preparations.
  • Balance can be paid before or during/after the trip.

Refund system
In case of trip cancellation in the last 10 days of group arrival, 50% of the deposited amount will be deducted. If the trip cancels 10 days before the group arrival, we settle the full amount in next trip.
