Overview

Just south of Tibetan border, extending east west of the Gauri Shankar Massif (7134 m), Rolwaling trek is one of the really "off-the-beaten-tracks" starting with a drive from Kathmandu to Sigatte village in Dolakha. You walk through traditional villages of Indo-Aryan/Tibeto-Bermese people, dense rhododendron and silver birch forests along Tama Koshi and Rolwaling valleys with the majestic view of Gauri Shankar Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Ramdong Go, Chobutse and Melungtse as well as beautiful valleys of Tama Koshi, Rolwaling and Thame.

This trek also offers a short climbs to Ramdong Go (5930m) and Pharchamoro (6187m). This trek starts with easy gentle walk from Tama Koshi valley to rugged trail strenuous walk in Tashi Lapcha Pass. If you prefer to climb Pachermo Peak 6200m then you need climbing gears.

On the way to Tashi Lapcha, sacred mountain Gauri Shankar Himal overlooking to Tsho Rolpa; one of the biggest glacial Lakes in Nepal is really beautiful with delightful view of Royal Holy Mountain Gaurishankar, Langtang Himal and Everest range. The lake has increased obviously over decades due to glacial melting in the Gauri Shankar Himalaya range and it may burst any time through its unstable dam, and the villagers residing along Tamakoshi River fed by this lake have life threatening challenge. Many earth scientists have focused their research studies here and number of trekkers is also increasing year by year. People who have climbing technical skill and pre-hiking experience in high altitude about 5900m can make this trip.

Package Itineary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1310m), transfer to hotel

Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, visit medieval era interesting monumental royal court Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swoyambhunath stupa complex in the afternoon. dinner and overnight.

 

Day 02: Drive to Sigatte (1020m), camp started
After breakfast, drive to Today is about full day drive to Dolakha Sigatte with great view of farmlands, villages, river valleys, series of mountains. We visit Dolakha Bhimeswor Temple on the way. After Dolakha bazaar, drive to Tama Koshi River valley by dirt road. Arrive Sigatte, dinner and overnight in camp.


Day 03: Hike to Jagat (1250m)
Hike along Bhote Koshi River and we often see beautiful view of the sacred mountain Gaurishankar (7145m). We can have Hindu and Buddhist culture experience today.


Day 04:  Hike to Simigaon (2025m)
Hike to Simigaon; beautiful village of Sherpa & Tamang tribes marked by its Tibetan monastery, perched above the houses on top of the hill infront of the Gauri Shankar Himal.


Day 05: Hike to Donga (2800m)
Today, we enter the Rollwalling valley through rhododendron & bamboo forest. We walk towards Gyalche then drop down to Donga, Rolwaling Khola.

 

Day 06: Hike to Beding (3690m)

Hike up to Bedding through tropical aline vegetation and enjoy the great view of Melungtse (7181m) lying in the Rolwaling range. Explore traditional village of Sherpas, their culture and lifestyle. Visit an old monastery there. We camp at Rolwaling Khola bank.


Day 07: Hike to Na (4185m)
Hike up to alpine summer camp Nagaon situated in a beautiful valley overlooked by by some exciting peaks like Chobutse (6685m), Chugimago (6259m). Yalung Ri 5630 Mt. Today we are just below the Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake.

 

Day 08: Acclimatization day in Na
Day trip to Yalung La pass for the best view of lake, glacier, Ramdung Peak (5930m) and Yalung Ri (5630m).

 

Day 09: Hike up to Tsho Rolpa Lake (4580m)

Hike up to Tsho Rolpa Lake with great view of Menlung and bordering Himalayas. Explore the glacial lake and beautiful surroundings.

 

Day 10: Hike to Trakarding Glacier (4800m)

We get up early to walk through Trakarding glacier and enjoy the great nature scenery.

 

Day 11: Hike to Tashi Lapcha Phedi (5755m)

Today, we do some rock climbing and walk through glaciers. You’ll have great wild adventure, today and we camp at Tashi Lapcha Pedi.

 

Day 12: Hike to Tashi Cape (5200m) via Tashi Lapcha Pass (5930m)

Tody is the hardest, tough, exciting and the most challenging part of the trek climbing to the highest snowy Tashi Lapcha Pass (5930m) then drop steep down to Tashi Cape (5200m). Climbing gears may be required today.

 

Day 13: Hike to Thyomgbo (4350m)

After a challenging walk in Tashi Lapcha pass, now comes easy walk through glacier. Hike down to Thyomgbo and camp there  

 

Day 14: Hike to Thame (3800m)

Start hiking up then easy walk afterwards today. Enjoy a beautiful surrounding nature while walking to Thame village.

 

Day 15: Thame to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

Hike to Namche bazaar and enjoy the Tibetan supermarket, internet surfing and shopping. If you prefer to eat and stay in guest house then we release supporting crew and gears except necessary porters.

 

Day 16: Namche – Sangnasa –Namche bazaar

Day trip to Sangnasa for wonderful view of the Everest; the greatest Himalaya massif on earth where we see Everest (8850m), Lhotse (8501m), Nuptse,  Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tengboche monastery closely. We can often see musk deer, spotted deer, blue sheep, colorful bird Danfe; the national bird of Nepal, Himalayan munal and griffin etc in beautiful forest of rhododendron and silver birch between Namche and Sangnasa.

 

Day 17: Hike to Phakding (2652m)

Hike down to Monju, exit Sagarmatha National park then continue hiking down to Phakding and camp there.

 

Day 18: Hike to Lukla (2800m)

Hike to Lukla in the morning, reconfirm our flight, afternoon free for refreshment.

 

Day 19: Fly to Kathmandu, sightseeing in Kathmandu, hotel

After breakfast, go to airport, fly to Kathmandu in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath and Bauddhanath on the way to hotel. We  will have lunch in Bouddhanath. Relax in the afternoon, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 20: Sightseeing and shopping in Kathmandu valley

The day is dedicated to explore the medieval era artistic cities of Bhaktapur and Patan where we see very interesting and age old  temples, stupas, palaces, bells, statues, clay dung plastered traditional colorful houses, traditional water well and fountains, traditional artwork of metal, wood, clay and paper. We will also see there classic culture and typical lifestyle of Newar tribe. We will have typical Nepal lunch in Raniban with host family. Return to hotel dinner and overnight.

 

Day 21: Fly back home.

Have breakfast, program over, time for next program or transfer to airport, fly back home.

Entire trip cost per person (USD): $4,999 // 1pax complimentary for above 10 paid guests group

 

Trip cost includes:
All accommodation (twin sharing basis) & food; three meals a day -breakfast, lunch and dinner (except bar bill), insured crew (guide, porters, donkeys, dzopa, yaks and necessary kitchen crew for camping trek), all essential permits, all domestic transportation as per the itinerary, service charge and government taxes.

Trip cost does not include:
Personal expenses (like laundry, communication, alcohol, cold drinks and bottled water during trekking), gratuity to serving crew, emergency evacuation, international airfare, visa, your travel insurance and any kind of gifts and donation.

Payment system

  • 80% of total trip budget must be paid in advance (the amount should be appeared to our account just two weeks before the trips) for domestic transportation, permits, hotel bookings reconfirmation and essential preparations.
  • Balance can be paid before or during/after the trip.

Refund system
In case of trip cancellation in the last 10 days of group arrival, 50% of the deposited amount will be deducted. If the trip cancels 10 days before the group arrival, we settle the full amount in next trip.
